Mandus Fristad, 81, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at his home in rural Letcher.

He was born Nov. 16, 1918, in Plankinton. He attended school in Belford Township and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1939 until 1940.

He married Norma Jacobson on March 30, 1947, in Mount Vernon. The couple farmed until their retirement in 1989.

Survivors include his wife, Norma; a daughter, Karen Miller of Cloquet, Minn.; four sons: Kevin of Clinton, Wash., Myron of Benson, Ariz., Merle of Minneapolis, and Arvid of Tomah, Wis.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Ida Feistner of Storla, Agnes Peters of Stickney, and Violet Moline of Mitchell.

Services begin at 10:30a.m. Friday at the Storla Lutheran Church in Storla with burial in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in rural Letcher.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Will Funeral Chapel in Mitchell with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
