Huntimer, SD

1934, 1793, Pine Creek, SP-1, Carpenter

Henry "Dick" Vincent Huntimer was born June 2, 1900, and was raised in the Huntimer area where he worked and played baseball for Colton and Garretson. When his future wife Selma "Sally" Myrtle Mansager contracted TB she went to the Sanitarium at Custer and Dick followed and worked in the Black Hills area. They married December 16, 1933, Custer Co., SD.

After short employment with the Civilian Conservation Corps, Dick continued to work in the area as a Junior driller of Jefferson's left chin at Mt. Rushmore.

In addition to baseball Dick also did some boxing under the name of "Jack Rose". Later he and Sally moved back to the Huntimer area to farm for the next 25 years. He continued his involvement in baseball by being an umpire and watching many games. He died of a sudden heart attack January 15, 1972.
