Author's Granddaughter Visits Museum

"The Civilian Conservation Corps in South Dakota, 1933-1942" by Lyle A. Derscheid is one of the best resources available when learning about the CCC in South Dakota. While the book is no longer in print, a few libraries have a copy although it can't be checked out. Mr. Derscheid passed away in 1999.

The Civilian Conservation Corps Museum of South Dakota is fortunate to have a 1st and 2nd edition of the Derscheid book. The book has been digitized and reprinted for visitors to view. On Friday August 25, 2023 a visitor to the Museum saw the book and was delighted to see it. That visitor was Lyle Derscheid's granddaughter Erin Rykhus who was traveling through the area from Ohio.
