Orville was born August 9, 1918, on a farm north of Colome to Clarence V. and Mildred (Myrick) Corey. The family moved south of Okreek where he worked on the ranch and broke horses. In 1933, Orville went to a CCC Camp in the Black Hills. During the Dirty 30's, his family moved to Washington where they worked on a dairy farm. He had two sons and three daughters. He moved his family to Washington state near his aging parents in 1966 where they continued farming and raising sheep. He also was a farm manager for the prison trustees at the Monroe Reformatory in Washington, retiring in 1981.
Orville and Pauline moved back to South Dakota in the fall of 1987 after the death of his parents to be closer to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching boxing, rodeos, and taking part in family get-togethers, and raising his prize winning Suffolk Sheep. He was in the sheep business 58 years, 'til his dying day. He sold breeding stock in 12 different states. He was one of the directors of the Washington State Suffolk Association for over 20 years. He was always present at local fairs and the Newell Ram Sale.
