Klee

Henry M. Klee

McCracken, KS

1937-41, 2759-V, Park Creek, F-20,

Henry Klee died at Deadwood, South Dakota, his home since 1928 Monday, and his body is being brought to his old home at McCracken for burial. He was 62 years of age. He was a World War Veteran, and had been serving as an officer in the CCC camp at Deadwood.

Surviving him are his father, Henry Klee, McCracken, and these brothers and sisters; Jack Klee and Bernita Klee of the home, Pat Klee of near McCracken, Miss Queenie Klee of Phoenix, Ariz.; Miss Maggie Klee of Denver, Mrs. M.J. Schommer of Great Bend; Martin and Jim Klee of Denver and Charles Klee who is in the Army and is stationed in Nebraska.

The following was taken from the camp newspaper, The Park Creek Crier, March 31, 1941

On March 24th the entire camp was saddened by the news that Henry Klee had died at the Station Hospital at Fort Meade, S. Dak.

Klee had been complaining about the state of his health for a short while and had been sent to the station hospital for examination and medical treatment. However no one suspected that the illness was of a serious nature. Pneumonia developed and his death came rather suddenly.

Henry was well liked by all who came in contact with him and his death is felt as a real loss by his many friends here in camp as well as elsewhere.

Henry M. Klee was born at Louisville, Colorado Feb. 15, 1885. He was single and made his home for the most part in western Kansas and in Colorado. He served during the World War, but no records are available here to show with which organizations he saw service.

Henry first enrolled in the CCC April 1st, 1937 and was a member from that time till the time of his death, which occurred at 4: AM March 24, 1941.

The remains were sent to McCracken Kas. for burial in the family lot at that place.
