RAPID CITY--Marvin L. Moore, 93, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2008, at Rapid City Regional Hospital Hospice House. We will miss you!

He was born January 6, 1915, at Erwin, SD, to Charles and Lilly (Butke) Moore. He grew up in Erwin and Brandon, SD, until 1924, when he moved with his family to Rapid City. In 1933 he joined the CCC's until 1935, working on Horse Thief Lake in the Black Hills.

He then worked in Rapid City and was married to Rose M. Pokorny in August of 1941, in Rapid City.

He proudly served the US Army Air Corp starting in October of 1942. He was a radio operator on a C-47 in the South Pacific Theatre during World War II, participating in over 935 hours of flying time in hazardous conditions. He was discharged in November 1945.

He returned to Rapid City, working at Sweeney Hardware and then as a driver for Buckingham Transportation, until retiring in 1974 and becoming a loving grandfather.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Rose M. Moore, Rapid City; 3 sons, Robert W. (Sharon) Moore, Orlando, FL, Terry L. (Rhonda) Moore, Rapid City; Joseph D. (Betty) Moore, Kirkland, WA; 2 daughters, Sandra C. (Ed) Huddleston, Rapid City and Karen K. (Ralph) Cupp, Rapid City; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, John Wade, 5 brothers, Stephen, Ralph, Howard, Leon and Floyd and a nephew, Richard Moore.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 4 until 6 p.m., with a Christian wake service at 6 p.m. at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, at the Church of St. Therese, the Little Flower with Father Dan Juelfs presiding.

Burial, with military honors provided by Rushmore VFW Post 1273, will follow in Pine Lawn Memorial Park.

A memorial has been established to the Rapid City Regional Hospital Hospice House.
