Mervil Sydney Sawtelle

The photo here is Mervil in 1952, age 32, at Independence Oregon, wearing his former Navy uniform.

Mervil S. Sawtelle, 67, died Friday February 5, 1988

He lived in South Dakota until he enlisted in the Navy in 1942. He was discharged in 1945 and came to Oregon. He married Verna Dolney in In- dependence in 1946. He worked more than 30 years as a lineman for Pacific Northwest Bell and retired in 1976. He was a member of the Corvallis Eagles Lodge and the Corvallis Moose Lodge. He was an avid outdoorsman.
