Samuel Milton La Fave was born January 25, 1916 in Bonesteel, Gregory County, South Dakota. He died January 17, 1996 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Burke, SD.

Sam ran the Pool Hall in Burke for many years before buying the Hertz Motel in Bonesteel, SD.
