Irving V. White, 87, died Tuesday at his home in Flandreau.Irving was born June 25, 1920 at Dell Rapids, SD to Carl and Eleanor (Martinson) White. He graduated from Hurley High School in 1938 and served in the U.S. Army during WWII in North Africa and Italy. After his discharge, he attended SDSU in Brookings and graduated with a degree in journalism. He worked for the Tripp Star-Ledger in Tripp, SD for one year and then moved to Flandreau in 1952 and worked for the Moody County Enterprise. He went to work at the Flandreau Indian School as a supply technician in 1963 and after he retired he returned to the Enterprise where he worked until he retired again. His wife preceded him in death on May 28, 2006. Irving was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Flandreau VFW and the Kelley-Porter American Legion Post #70.
