Log Dog

The best log dogs are hand forged with quality mild steel. You can make log dogs if you have access to a blacksmith’s shop. If possible, use 3 / 4 " square steel about 36" long. Sharpen each end to a chisel point and bend each end down. These when driven into the building at one end and into the log on which you are working and the other end, will hold it firmly in place. Different sizes can be forged for use in different situations.
