Floyd B. Freeman, age 80, of Hot Springs, passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at his home.
Floyd Benjamin Freeman, the son of Albert and Gladys (McCain) Freeman, was born on July 19, 1920, in Box Elder, S.D. He married Rosalie A. Wavrick on Jan. 3, 1946, in Seattle, Wash.
Much of his childhood was spent in Custer State Park, where his father was the park ranger and they made their home. As a teen, he worked in the CCC camps. For most of his life, he was a metal worker (welder). He worked in such places as the Seattle Shipyards during World War II; Galveston, Texas, Leavenworth, Kan., Kansas City, Kan., Rapid City, S.D., Denver, Colo., and Minneapolis, Minn.
Floyd's interests were: playing guitar, aerodynamics, pool, cards, archeology, reading and walking. He was also an active member of the United Churches.
He is survived by three sons and four daughters: Floyd C. Freeman, Salem, Ore., Phil Freeman, Auburn, Wash., Albert Freeman, Rapid City, (Bertha) Jo Veatch, Meridan, Idaho, Rose Marie Tilley, Springfield, Ill., (Gladys) Kaye Meidinger, Sandy, Utah, and Joan Thies, Boise, Idaho; four sisters, Bernice Lewis, Hot Springs, Frances Johnson, Walnut Creek, Calif., Betty Andrews, Seattle, and Donna Swanberg, Yakima, Wash.; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by both parents.
