Benjamin H. Struck, 79, died Friday, Dec. 3, 1999, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls. He was born Nov. 7, 1920, in Chancellor. He attended Lake View School District No. 110 in Minnehaha County.
He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps prior to his marriage to Marcella Fox on Sept. 18, 1941, in Humboldt. The couple farmed in the Wall Lake area. Benjamin Struck then purchased a farm and moved to the Humboldt and Montrose area in 1944. In 1989, they retired from farming and moved to Humboldt. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Humboldt, and Knights of Columbus and had served as a member of the Montrose and Mt. Pleasant school boards. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 15 children; Betty Ordal and Denise Lehnen, both of Sioux Falls, Mary Dragseth of Madison, Sharon Katzer and Brenda McCoy, both of Montrose, Jacqueline Jard-ing, Duane and Kenneth Struck, all of Humboldt; James, Eugene, Donald, Dennis and Leon, all of Montrose, Paul of Yankton, and Jeffrey of Las Vegas; 41 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Larson of Sioux Falls and Elnora Mustar of Visalia, Calif.; and one brother, Glen Johnson of Spokane, Wash.
