Arthur Bingners daughter and husband, DeWayne Stoddard visited the Civilian Conservation Corps Museum of South Dakota located in Hill City, SD in April of 2019 and verified the information about abouth Mr. Bingner.
Art Bingner, 89, died Monday, August 23, 2010 at Pioneer Memorial Hospital, Viborg, SD.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27 at the Chancellor Reformed Church, Chancellor, SD with burial to follow at the Chancellor Reformed Cemetery.
Arthur Henry Bingner was born on a farm south of Chancellor on January 18, 1921, the son of Henry "Heinie" and Gertie (Stratmeyer) Bingner.
His mother died after his birth and he was raised by his Grandfather Stratmeyer and his aunt Ella on a farm north of Lennox. He played on the Davis basketball team and graduated from Davis High School in 1939 as a class of one. He worked in the C.C.C. camp and then joined the US Army, serving in Germany during World War II.
On February 26, 1949 he was united in marriage to Marian Timmerman at the Reformed Church in Lennox, by the Rev. Raymond Denekas.
He and Marian lived in Lennox until 1952 when they moved to Chancellor where they had since lived. Art was employed at Chancellor Farmers Oil Co. for 35 years where he delivered fuel throughout the area. Art was a member of Chancellor Reformed Church where he served as a funeral usher. He also was a 65 year member of the Bertus Jurgens American Legion Post #283 in Chancellor and the V.F.W. Post in Parker. He had served with the Chancellor Fire Department of 38 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gertie, father, Henry, step-mother, Luella Bingner and his half-sister, Linda Richter.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Marian; his three daughters and their husbands: Cathy and DeWane Stoddard of Big Stone City, SD, Karen and Wayne Danielson of Dell Rapids, SD and Nancy and Gary Dickson of Sioux City, Iowa; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister-in-law: Vivian Timmerman of Sioux Falls; plus several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
