Cpt. Herman J. Crigger

1933, 1784-V, Lake Andes, F-17, CO

Company No. 1776, Lake Andes, composed of War Veterans, S.D. Capt. Herman J. Crigger, 17th Field Artillery, USA, Commander. Seventh Corps Area included Kansas, Arkansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Capt. Crigger entered the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant through the Third Officers Training Camp. He was promoted to Captain in 1932.

From each Corps Area the outstanding C. C. C. Company was selected and the winner in each Corps Area announced. Of these winners three were commanded by Field Artillery officers as shown below:

  • Fifth Corps Area-Company No. 1538, Pineville, W. Va., Captain Charles W. Mays, F. A., U. S. A., Commander, Captain John P. West, F. A. Res., 1st Lt. Clinton S. Berrien, 3rd F. A., U. S. A.
  • Sixth Corps Area-Company No. 647, Camp Smith Lake, Hayward, Wisconsin, Captain John P. Crehan, 3rd F. A., U.S.A., Commander, Captain Robert W. Fisher, Cav. Res.
  • Seventh Corps Area-Company No. 1776, Lake Andes, S. D., Captain Herman J. Crigger, 17th F. A., U. S. A., Commander.
