Wilfred Anthony Kieffer (Abe)

Hannah, ND

1933, 765, Tigerville, F-15,

Wilfred A. Kieffer was born 9 March 1912 in North Dakota. He died 16 January 1985. Burial: Saint Michaels, Cavalier, North Dakota.

The following information provided by Anthony L Kieffer.

Wilfred Kieffer was my uncle. I knew he had been in the CCC as a young man but did not know he spent time in the Hill City, SD area. Wilfred was known to friends and family as "Abie" or Uncle Abe. The nickname was bestowed on him after he won a high school essay contest about Abe Lincoln. Wilfred Kieffer went on to serve as a bombardier/navigator in the U.S. Army Air Corp and did combat time in the South Pacific during World Ward II. He grew up in the Wales/Hannah North Dakota area and after his military service returned to Hannah, ND where he ran a bar for about 30 years.
