South Dakota Flag
The flag represents the U.S. state of South Dakota with a field of sky blue (also a version in navy blue on white) with the state seal in the center surrounded by gold triangles representing the sun's rays. The state seal is surrounded by inscriptions in gold of "SOUTH DAKOTA" on top and "THE MOUNT RUSHMORE STATE" (the state nickname) on the bottom. The inscription on the bottom was "the sunshine state" before it was changed in 1992. South Dakota was admitted to the Union in 1889.
This flag was retired from the Avenue of Flags at Mount Rushmore National Memorial. Several CCC Boys worked at Mount Rushmore.
