Alvin L. "Al" Hamilton Sr. a resident of Dallas, OR passed away on Monday, November 1st 2010 in Salem Hospital. Al was born on August 17, 1917 in Killdeer, ND the son of George and Caroline (Lubke) Hamilton. He married Helen Mae Thompson on June 29, 1940 in Vancouver, WA. They moved to Dallas, OR where Al was owner & operator of Hamilton’s Barber Shop from 1948 until his retirement in 1992. Al was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and The Sons of Norway. He thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid gardener. He enjoyed reading and baseball.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Mae; sons: Al Jr., Jim (Vicki); daughters: Ardis (Ivan) Debban, Char (Bill) Cottle, and Charlene Hamilton; 12 grandchildren: Debi (Garth) Gates, Jon (Cheryl) Debban, Tracy (Troy) Jelinek, Mark (Tanya) Debban, Tiffany (Steve) Bouchard, Megan (Ivan) Parker, Darrell (Carrie) Hamilton, Colby (Jen) Hamilton, Justin Hamilton, Mari Peschal, Brady (Kristin) Hamilton, Brody (Brigitte) Hamilton; 2 step grandchildren: Tim (Angie) Debban, Lynn (Rich) Walker; 16 great grandchildren: Jackson & Macy Bouchard; Joelle, Haley, Ryan & Drew Debban; Olivia, Payton, Hannah, Ashton, & Kenley Hamilton; Dylan & Carson Jelinek, Gillian Parker, Jacob & Kierra Peschal; and 3 step great grandchildren: Clay & Connor Debban, Trever Walker; sisters: Julie Siebert, Shirley (Bert) Babb; sisters-in-law: Mary, Millie & Rogna Hamilton, Alice Rhodes; along with his extended family: Jim & Jeanette Kittleson, Jerry Kittelson, Jamie Rockwell, Jackie Henderson, Jimmy Kittleson, John & Paula Zeamen, and Ellie & Debbie Whitlow, and their families.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, George and Caroline Hamilton, sisters: Evelyn Hamilton, Dorothy Davis, Gert Schellenbarger; brothers: Ernie, Jim, George, Bill Hamilton; daughter-in-law Cheryl (Swenson) Hamilton.

Services will be on Friday, Nov. 5th at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dallas. Pastor Dave Pederson and nephew Gary Hamilton will be officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, Nov. 4th from 4-8 p.m. in Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center. Interment will be in Dallas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center to: Providence Cancer Center in memory of Cheryl Hamilton, Lung Association, Kidney Association, Shriners Hospital, or Boys Town. The family would like to extend their thanks & gratitude to Jillian Gish & Staff at Dallas Retirement Center and to the Salem Hospital Staff 4th floor, for the care they showed to Al and the family.
