Arnold J. Gutormson

Services for Arnold J. Gutormson, 95, Aberdeen will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Skudesnes Lutheran Church, rural Pierpont, SD with Pastor Janet Johnson officiating. Burial at the Skudesnes Cemetery. Arnold died Monday, April 6, 2008 at ManorCare Health Services.

Arnold Gutormson was born on December 2, 1912 at Hillhead near Veblen, SD to John and Christina (Johnson) Gutormson. As a small child the family moved to a farm near Roslyn, SD. Arnold worked in the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) camps in the thirties. In 1937 he moved to Alaska where he worked for the US Army & Navy until 1947. He moved to Aberdeen in the 1980’s. Arnold was active in the Senior Citizens Center, where he won many billiard tournies both locally and statewide. For the last ten years he lived at the ManorCare Health Services.

Arnold was an avid reader of English History.

Grateful for having shared his life are his sister, Edith Tyerman of Mitchell, SD, Brother-in-law, Floyd Johnson of Aberdeen and several nephews and nieces.

Arnold is preceded in death by his parents, John and Christina Gutormson, brothers, Lawrence, Harold, Robert and Richard, sisters, Clarice, Delores Johnson, and Juella Opitz.
