Jayson died Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner. Graveside services will be 2 PM, Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the Emmanuel Reformed Cemetery, rural Springfield. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
Jayson Dykstra was born April 11, 1921 at Running Water, SD, the son of Peter and Dora (Vanderlei) Dykstra. He died Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner at the age of 97 years, five months and 16 days.
Jayson grew up on a farm working for neighbors in that area. He attended the Running Water School. During the 1930's he worked on the NYA. In 1939 he worked for CCC in the Black Hills. On returning he helped his dad farm. He later began farming on his own after his dad retired.
Jayson enjoyed doing numbrix puzzles and other word search puzzles. He also enjoyed driving the old Ford tractor.
Jayson was a member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church.

Thankful for having shared his life are his sister Mabel Ludens of Sioux Falls, brother Darwin of Avon, and many nieces and nephews.
Jayson was preceded in death by four sisters: Annie Odens, Jessie Boersma, Marie Vander Veen and Ruth Olivier; three brothers: Andrew, Raymond and Donald; and his parents.
Jayson Dykstra and brother Andrew were both in the Civilian Conservation Corps. Jayson donated many photos to the CCC Museum in Hill City, SD.
On July 9, 2018 Amy Bochman delivered a CCC Boy pin from CCC Legacy to Jayson Dykstra at St. Michael's Hospital Avera, Tyndall, SD. Jayson has a minor health issue and is expected to be home soon. Amy's husband Otto is a board member of the CCC Museum of South Dakota.
Family members present included, Marlene Wittmeier, Jayson's brother Darwin, Harold Odens, Don Odens and wife Coreen, Harlan DeJong, and Jean Kolecka.
In 2007, the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Legacy was established through a merger between the Camp Roosevelt CCC Legacy Foundation and the National Association of CCC Alumni (NACCCA). The purpose of CCC Legacy is to continue the promotion of the CCC in America and pass the legacy of the CCC to following generations.
