Dr. Bernard Lenz, 76, a Huron physician for more than 50 years, died Monday March 16, 1987 in his home.
Born Nov. 20, 1910, in Conde, he was graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Medicine and served his internship in Minneapolis Hospital.
Dr. Lenz began his practice at the Huron Clinic in 1936 and married Elaine Shirley April 28, 1939, in Huron. They lived their entire married life in Huron.
He was president of the Huron Clinic Foundation, and a member of the South Dakota Mental Health Association, South Dakota Medical Association, American Medical Association, and past state president of the South Dakota chapter of the American Cancer Society.
Dr. Lenz was honored last June for longtime service by the South Dakota Medical Association.
Survivors include his wife; two sons: Richard, Milwaukee; and Dr. Tony Lenz, Great Falls Mont.; three daughters: Mrs. Dean (Mary) Olson, Aberdeen; Mrs. Don (Jane) Mengedoth, Fargo, N.D.; and Mrs. Dale (Shirley) Gelskey, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers: Dr. Otto Lenz, Minneapolis; and Dr. Joe Lenz, Morton, Minn.; and a sister, Cleo Robertson, Huron.
Services began at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Martin's Catholic Church with burial in St. Martin's Catholic Cemetery.
