Kringen

Irvin Clarence Kringen

Aberdeen, SD

1933, 765, Tigerville, F-15,

Irvin C. Kringen, 86, Custer and formerly of Aberdeen died Monday, March 25, 2002. His funeral service was Saturday, March 30, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 South Main St., Aberdeen, with Dr. Harold E. Salem officiating. Burial was at Riverside Memorial Park, Aberdeen.

Irvin C. Kringen was born December 17, 1915, in Veblen, S.D., the son of Bernt and Hulda (Hansen) Kringen and the eldest of eight children. He grew up living and working on farms in the Aberdeen area.

Irvin was married to Irene V. Enze in Webster, S.D., on January 17, 1942, and they shared 60 years together. Aberdeen was their home for 55 years, after which their time was spent between Texas and the Black Hills area.

Irvin worked at Hub City Iron Company/Safeguard for about 40 years. He was a machinist, a self-taught patternmaker and foundry supervisor. In 1933 he worked with the CCC Camps near Hill City in the Black Hills and remembered that time with fond memories.

Irvin will be remembered by his family and friends as a man of love, humility, honesty and selflessness, with a wonderful quiet sense of humor. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, being outdoors and sharing his life with his family. He attended the First Baptist Church in Custer and Aberdeen.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Irene of Custer, and his two daughters, Charlene and husband Jack Larsen of Custer and Debra and husband Alan Martin of Spring Branch, Texas. Jennifer and Susanne Larsen and Haley Martin were blessed to call him Grandpa. Irvin will also be missed by his sisters, Doris Dahme and Harriet Heupel of Aberdeen and brothers, Maurice and Wallace Kringen, both of Bowman, N.D., and Harris Kringen of Spearfish, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Florence Brick; and one brother, Curtis Kringen.

Casket bearers were Jack Larsen, Alan Martin, Pat Hanson, Roger Heupel, Harris Kringen and Brian Kringen.
