Donald D. Van Woert, 85, of Cedar Rapids died Wed. Feb. 8, 2006 following a short illness. Services Monday, February 13, 2006 10 AM at Kenwood Park United Methodist Church. Rev. Laura L. Smith will officiate. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 P.M. at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery.
Survivors include sons Dan Susan Van Woert of Cedar Rapids, David Linda Van Woert of Urbandale, and Darrell Betty Van Woert of Clive; grandchildren Jane and Meredith Van Woert of Cedar Rapids, Doug, Andy, and Dennis Van Woert of Urbandale, and Drew and Dana Van Woert of Clive. Also surviving is his brother Tom Van Woert of Cedar Rapids.
Donald was preceded in death by his loving wife Alice, and his parents.
Donald Dale Van Woert was born July 13, 1920 in Canistota, SD the beloved son of Guy H. and Clara A. Schlueter Van Woert. He graduated from Canistota High School in 1938. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and served at Fort Meade in Sturgis. He enlisted in the United States Army February 10, 1941 serving during WWII in Germany and discharged honorably. He married Alice L. Trimble October 25, 1951 in Marion. Don was employed by the City of Cedar Rapids for over 22 years as an Operator for the Water Department.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Kenwood Park United Methodist Church in Donald's name.
