Adzit Edward "Tuck" Tucholke, 87, of Hot Springs, died October 28, 2001, at the VA Medical Center in Hot Springs, S.D. He was buried at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, S.D.
Tuck was born May 9, 1914, near Revillo, S.D., to Herman and Katherine (Schmidt) Tucholke. The family moved to Milbank, S.D., where he attended school and where he graduated from Milbank High School in 1932. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1934 and served at Wind Cave National Park. He met Lillian Mae Odbert in Hot Springs, and they were married in April 1937. He attended school in Chicago and later managed the plumbing shop at Hearst Mercantile in Lead, S.D. When World War II broke out, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Most of his Navy career was spent on the aircraft carrier Bunker Hill in the South Pacific. When the war ended, he was honorably discharged in October 1945. He worked at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Hot Springs, in the Engineering Department, retiring in 1977. He was a Life Member of the VFW, American Legion, Elks Lodge, and the National Rifle Association. He was a longtime member of the United Churches in Hot Springs. During his lifetime, he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, woodworking, and outdoor color photography.
He is survived by one son, Brian and his wife, Anita, and two granddaughters, Rachelle and Dacia, all of West Falmouth, Mass., and two cousins, Cozette McKinney of Amherst, Ohio and Elaine Timm of Utica, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lillian.
