Delbert S. Mueller December 31, 1912 - June 5, 2006 Delbert S. Mueller, a longtime Grand Junction resident, died Monday, June 5. He was born December 31, 1912, in Bonesteel, South Dakota, and graduated from White River High School.

Mr. Mueller served in the U.S. Army near the end of World War II and was assigned to duty in Japan. After the war, he graduated from a business college in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Delbert married the former Audrey Nystrom on January 24, 1948, in Rapid City. The family moved to Grand Junction in 1957, where he worked as an accountant for a government contractor associated with the Atomic Energy Commission.

He enjoyed gardening and had been a member of a local men's gardening club. He was also a member of the local American Legion post and of First Congregational Church. After retiring, he did volunteer work for several organizations, including a meal delivery service for the home bound.

He and Audrey celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1998. She preceded him in death in December 2004. An infant son, David Mueller, and four brothers, Paul, Fred, Milton, and Waldo Mueller, all of South Dakota, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his son, Lyle Mueller, of Aurora; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Al Groves of Lawrenceville, Georgia; one grandson, Arthur Groves of Lawrenceville; and a step-grandson, Michael Groves of West Palm Beach, Florida. Other survivors include his sister, Ruth Evans of Bourbonnais, Illinois, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 13 at 11 a.m. at First Congregational Church, with assistant minister Dan Wilkie presiding. Burial will follow in the Veterans Cemetery. Contributions in Delbert's memory may be made to Hospice-Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 60307, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
