Vernon R. Bellack

Vernon Bellack, 88, of Faulkton, died Thursday, December 21, 2006 at the Faulk County Memorial Hospital, Faulkton.

Funeral services were held Thursday, December 28 at the United Church of Faulkton with Pastor Mike Ward officiating. Burial was in the Faulkton Cemetery with military honors, directed by Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton. Visitation was at Luce Funeral Home.

was born January 21, 1918 to Frank and Clara (Dick) Bellack in Salem, South Dakota. He moved with his parents to Seneca in 1927. He attended country school near Seneca. He later entered the National Guard in 1940. From there, he was mobilized in February of 1942 to the 135th Trucking Company at Fort Dix where he was a truck driver at Camp McCall, North Carolina.

He married Marjorie Eschenbaum on February 27, 1943. They lived at Southern Pines, North Carolina until 1944 when he was sent overseas. After being discharged from the service, they moved to Burkmere where he operated the elevator. In 1949, they moved to a farm northwest of Seneca where they lived for seventeen years. They bought a house in Seneca in the fall of 1967 and later moved the house to Faulkton in the fall of 1969. He worked in Faulkton for Bachmyer Lumber Company for sixteen years. He later worked for the Soil Conservation for seventeen years, spraying weeds and distribution of trees at the Tree Shed.

Vernon's memory will be cherished by his children: Arnold (Sherry) Bellack of Oklahoma City, OK and Marlene (Virgil) Metzinger of Ipswich; four grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Edwin (Grace) Bellack and Lloyd Bellack; 2 sisters: Florence Winter and Ella (George) Winter; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marjorie in 1988; and 1 sister.
