Paul David Brown

Coal Spring, SD

Paul D. Brown returned to his Heavenly Father on Feb. 22, 2008 in Holladay, Utah. Born the eighth of 11 children on Oct. 12, 1918 in Coal Springs, SD to Thomas Patrick and Agnes May Gonia Browne.

A man of many trades, as a youth he worked with the Civil Conservation Corps (CCC) on Mt. Rushmore where he met FDR. He hauled coal, built cabins, and earned his pilots license while working with the Civil Air Patrol. He moved to Ogden to work at Hill Field. This is where he met, Dora, the love of his life. They were married for 64 years.

They moved to Spokane where he drove taxi, city bus, and delivered milk. Later, he was a Ford salesman in southern California for 16 years.

Moving to Susanville, CA in 1973, he and his son purchased and operated the 7 Acres Garage. In 1989 Paul retired to enjoy traveling, golf and his family.

He conquered many challenges. The family expresses gratitude for the loving kindness and care from medical professionals and neighbors.

Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dora Margerite Knudsen, five brothers and five sisters. He is survived by his children, Elizbeth Browne, Thomas (Chris) Brown, Patricia (Tim) Wantz and Susan (Barry) Smith; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Sat., March 29, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Portage, Utah cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association,
