Andrew Petras was born December 28, 1914 in Hensley Heights, Logan County, West Virginia.

Andrew served in the US Army during World War II reaching the rank of S Sgt.

Andrew "Andy" Petras, 85, Kadoka, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at Fort Meade Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Petras, Kadoka; three sons, Gary Petras, Kadoka, Wayne Petras, Grandby, Colo., and Andy Petras Jr., Surry, N.D.; two daughters, Marcene Buehrer, East Alton, Ill., and Marsha Rayfield, Grandby; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Julia Kapalo, Huntington Valley, Pa.

Visitation was at Rush Funeral Chapel in Kadoka. Services were held 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Presbyterian Church in Kadoka, with the Rev. Gary McCubbin and the Rev. John Kaiser officiating.

Interment was at Kadoka Cemetery.
